Britannia Industries has promoted long-time executive Shailesh Kumar to Vice President of Procurement, strengthening its supply chain leadership amid continued focus on sourcing efficiency and resilience.

FMCG major Britannia Industries has promoted long-time executive Shailesh Kumar as Vice President- Procurement, bolstering its leadership as the company focuses more on supply chain resilience and efficient sourcing in a volatile commodity environment.

The appointment was approved by the company’s board through a circular resolution dated June 30, 2026, according to a regulatory filing made under SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulations. The promotion will be effective retrospectively from 1 April 2026.

Kumar has been with Britannia for more than 14 years and his last assignment was as General Manager Procurement. He oversaw domestic and international sourcing strategies, vendor relationships and procurement operations across the company’s manufacturing network in that role.

Leadership Elevation:

Kumar has close to 20 years of experience in the fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) space and started his career in ITC Limited as a Purchase Manager before moving to Britannia.

In his role at Britannia, he has been instrumental in enhancing the company’s procurement capabilities, optimising sourcing strategies and managing input cost volatility in the backdrop of fluctuations in agricultural and commodity markets.

Kumar has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad.

In his new role as Vice President – Procurement, he will drive Britannia’s end-to-end procurement strategy, including raw material sourcing, supplier partnerships, sustainable procurement initiatives and cross-functional supply chain integration.

The appointment underlines Britannia’s ongoing focus on strengthening its procurement and supply chain capabilities at a time when FMCG companies are facing inflationary pressures, volatile commodity prices and evolving sourcing needs.
