Swiggy Instamart has appointed former OYO executive Gautam Swaroop as Chief Business Officer to lead commercial operations and support the platform's next phase of growth.

Gautam Swaroop has been appointed as the new Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Swiggy Instamart, strengthening the leadership team of the quick commerce platform as it sharpens its focus on growth and commercial expansion.

The appointment comes close on the heels of Swiggy’s former Chief Business Officer Hari Kumar and Chief Operating Officer Ankit Jain’s exit.

Swaroop will now be in charge of the commercial operations of Instamart including category management, customer growth initiatives, brand partnerships and business expansion, the company said.

Leadership Experience:

Swaroop has over 20 years of leadership experience in the consulting, pharmaceuticals and technology industries. He is a former McKinsey & Company consultant with a decade of experience advising organisations on strategy and operational transformation.

He later joined Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories where he helped grow the company’s emerging markets business from $37M to $190M in revenues.

Prior to this, Swaroop was the Chief Executive Officer for OYO’s international business, leading operations across the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, China and Latin America and driving the business to profitability.

Growth Focus:

Commenting on the appointment, Girish Menon, Chief Human Resources Officer at Swiggy said, “Swaroop brings with him deep expertise and a proven track record of scaling businesses in dynamic, fast-paced industries and his leadership will be beneficial as we continue to deliver unparalleled convenience to consumers.

The appointment is part of a broader leadership build-out at Instamart. The company has also recently appointed Srikar Adavi as Vice President, Ad Monetization, and Hardeep Kaur as Associate Vice President, Category (FMCG), among other senior hires, as it strengthens capabilities across key business functions.
