Shreyas Iyer Becomes Face of India’s Official F1-Sanctioned Sim Racing Championship
Mumbai Falcons Racing names Shreyas Iyer as brand ambassador for the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026.
Mumbai Falcons Racing has named cricketer Shreyas Iyer as the official brand ambassador for its Formula 1 Sim Racing India program, marking a major move as the organisation builds out a structured motorsport gaming ecosystem in India.
The announcement comes alongside the launch of the F1 Sim Racing India Open 2026, an official Formula 1 sanctioned competition designed to create a national level platform for emerging sim racing talent.
The program will run on F1 25, the official game of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship, and will mirror real world racing formats including tracks, team structures and competitive rules used in the global series.

India’s Sim Racing Push Explained:
Registrations for the championship are set to open on April 30, 2026 through the MFRL App, with participation available across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox, signalling a broad access approach aimed at reaching a wide base of gaming and motorsport fans across India.
Shreyas Iyer, who has built a reputation as one of India’s most consistent performers in cricket and a recognizable figure in youth culture, said the initiative stood out because it creates a structured pathway for young talent.
He noted that the idea of building a clear route from grassroots participation to higher competitive levels is something he would have valued earlier in his career, highlighting how structured systems can influence sporting ambition.
From Mumbai Falcons’ perspective, the appointment reflects a wider strategy to connect sport, entertainment and digital culture under one umbrella. The organisation has positioned itself around the belief that India’s sporting talent is strong but often limited by lack of infrastructure and pathways.
By linking a mainstream cricket personality with a Formula 1 backed gaming competition, the initiative is attempting to bridge traditional sport audiences with the growing esports and simulation racing community.
For brands and media, the move signals a growing overlap between physical sport influence and digital first sporting formats. Sim racing is increasingly being viewed not just as gaming content but as a competitive entry point into motorsport ecosystems. The involvement of a high visibility athlete like Shreyas Iyer is expected to help bring mainstream attention to what has largely been a niche but rapidly expanding category.
