Meta has unveiled a new suite of features for Instagram Stories, but only for its AI-enabled smart glasses users, further knitting its wearable devices into the company’s social media ecosystem.

The update provides a host of content creation and editing tools that leverage the multi-camera system and motion capture capabilities of the smart glasses, offering creators new ways to produce immersive Stories.

According to reports, one of the biggest new features is Spin View, an interactive Story format that allows viewers to turn their smartphones around to see a wider panoramic scene shot with the AI glasses. Unlike traditional Stories, the feature allows audiences to move through the recorded environment, making it a more immersive viewing experience.

Meta said Spin View uses the glasses’ multiple cameras to capture a wider field of view so viewers can experience scenes from different perspectives instead of a single fixed frame.

Meta added multi-cam sync, automatically syncing footage shot at the same time on Meta AI smart glasses and a smartphone. The feature is designed to make multi-angle storytelling easier by pairing clips from both devices, without the need for editing.

There are now editing tools for Instagram Stories, too, specifically optimised for videos taken on Meta's smart glasses. Users can reframe footage, change playback speed, and fine-tune audio before publishing within the Stories editor.

The new features are part of Meta’s larger initiative to strengthen the link between its AI-powered hardware and social media platforms, encouraging creators to use smart glasses as everyday content creation tools.

Meta also wants to position its smart glasses against traditional smartphones by adding exclusive software functionalities for wearable users and make them a focal point of the creator ecosystem.
