MCD Begins Random Inspections of Delhi’s Establishments for Safety Compliance
MCD launches random inspections of restaurants, banquet halls, and clubs to prevent overcrowding and ensure safety and health compliance during Christmas and New Year celebrations
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has initiated random inspections across restaurants, banquet halls, clubs, and similar establishments in the city to prevent overcrowding during Christmas and New Year celebrations. This proactive step is aimed at ensuring compliance with safety norms amidst the increased footfall during the festive season.
In a circular addressed to district health officers, the MCD raised concerns over establishments exceeding permissible occupancy limits. The circular noted that such violations could lead to deterioration in food and beverage quality and mishaps due to pressure on the existing infrastructure.
Additionally, the MCD highlighted issues such as encroachment on public land, unlicensed operations, and the creation of temporary kitchens without approval, which could threaten both customer safety and staff health.
To tackle these concerns, the MCD has instructed officials to conduct thorough inspections, identify violations, and enforce penalties to ensure public health and safety during the festive period.
