Doraemon Returns to Indian Theatres After 20 Years With New Feature Film
TV Asahi and PVR INOX Pictures will release Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil in Indian cinemas on October 2, 2026, marking the franchise’s return to the big screen after 20 years.
One of the world's most popular animated franchises is set to make its return to Indian cinemas, with TV Asahi and PVR INOX Pictures announcing the theatrical release of Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil on October 2, 2026.
The movie will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu across India, bringing Doraemon’s latest underwater adventure to audiences in multiple regions.
The film, which is inspired by the original manga from legendary creator Fujiko F. Fujio, sees Doraemon and his friends embark on a journey beneath the waves, bringing together the franchise’s long-standing messages of friendship, courage and discovery.

Fan Engagement Push:
The theatrical release is spearheaded by TV Asahi and PVR INOX Pictures, with licensing and brand consulting agency Black White Orange (BWO) taking charge of fan engagement initiatives and promotional activations. Happening 365 Synergies is providing strategic consulting support.
As part of the film's promotional campaign, Doraemon will be making his first public appearance in India at CORE, a pop culture festival organised by BWO, on June 20 and 21 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
A special Doraemon zone will be established at the festival with themed installations, fan engagement activities, photo opportunities and a Doraemon inflatable. The wider campaign will include school outreach programmes, digital and outdoor advertising, mall activations and immersive fan experiences across the country.
