Apple is set to centre artificial intelligence at its upcoming WWDC 2026 event, with a newly discovered web domain suggesting the company’s broader generative AI ambitions ahead of the conference.

According to MacRumors, Apple has registered a new subdomain, genai.apple.com, just weeks before the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference begins on June 8.

Currently the website is not live and any attempt to access the website results in a connection timeout message suggesting that the domain has been registered but not yet setup for public use, India Today reported.

Generative AI Push:

The new “Gen AI” domain was spotted on Apple’s domain servers shortly before the company announced plans for new AI-related developments across its software ecosystem at WWDC 2026.

Apple already has an Apple Intelligence webpage, but the purpose of the new Gen AI domain is unclear at the moment.

The move has, however, fuelled speculation that generative AI will be one of the company's biggest strategic themes at this year's developer conference.

Reports suggest that Apple’s next software releases, iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27, will bring a host of new Apple Intelligence features.

One of the most anticipated updates is a more personalized, conversational Siri, with better on-screen awareness.

Reports say Apple is working to make Siri more like an AI chatbot, such as the popular chatbot, ChatGPT, to allow for more natural, conversational interactions through a Siri app.

Apple is also said to be expanding its Visual Intelligence feature, which was introduced with the iPhone 16 in 2024.

The feature currently uses AI services such as ChatGPT to analyse images and provide contextual information.

Mark Gurman reports that Apple wants to integrate Visual Intelligence more deeply into the camera app on iOS 27 as a dedicated Siri-powered mode.

The Photos app could also gain new AI-powered editing features that can extend, enhance and reframe images directly in the app.
