IPL 2024 starts March 22, confirms League Chairman Arun Dhumal
The chairman confirmed that the upcoming tournament will be held entirely in India, signaling a return to normalcy for the IPL event this year
In a recent announcement, Arun Dhumal, the chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), revealed that the 2024 edition of the tournament is scheduled to commence on March 22. Despite the upcoming general elections in April-May, the entire IPL event will be held in India.
Dhumal assured close coordination with government agencies and the imminent release of the initial schedule for the league. This move is a testament to the league's commitment to hosting the tournament within the country's borders, navigating the challenges posed by the concurrent elections.
Simultaneously, the IPL has unveiled the tender document for associate and special partner slots, drawing interest from nine prominent companies including CEAT, Aramco, RuPay, Dream11, Mastercard, and Phone Pe.
Reportedly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has established a cumulative base price of Rs 2,700 crore for six associate and three special partner slots in the IPL. This strategic move aims to attract potential partners and sponsors, contributing to the financial success of the upcoming edition.
