Telecom Operators Strengthen Networks for Maha Kumbh Mela 2025
Telecom operators boost connectivity for Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 with advanced networks, new towers, and WiFi zones, ensuring seamless communication for millions of visitors.
In preparation for the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has directed major telecom operators to enhance connectivity in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. With an anticipated 40-45 crore visitors, the event demands an unprecedented network upgrade to ensure seamless communication for attendees, businesses, and advertisers.
Telecom giants Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea have installed 575 new Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and upgraded 1,462 existing ones. Additionally, 126 kilometers of optical fiber have been laid, alongside the setup of 328 new towers to strengthen coverage across key areas, including railway stations, bus terminals, airports, and highways leading to the city. The Green Corridor, a vital route for uninterrupted traffic, has been given special attention for reliable connectivity.
To address the challenge of weak mobile networks, separate WiFi zones have been introduced, ensuring visitors and advertisers can stay connected. These efforts also cater to advertisers looking to reach millions, making the gathering a hotspot for innovative campaigns.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, held every 12 years, begins on January 13, 2025, and spans 45 days. With millions converging for this spiritual event, the DoT’s initiative is a critical step toward providing a seamless experience for both pilgrims and businesses.
