Micro-drama platform TukTuki surpasses 1 million downloads in India.

The home-grown micro-drama entertainment platform TukTuki has crossed the milestone of 1 million downloads, underlining the soaring popularity of short-form, mobile-first storytelling in India.

According to reports, this comes as India’s micro-drama industry continues to grow rapidly, with the segment projected to reach a market size of $5 billion by 2030. The category is expected to grow at a CAGR of 50-60 percent, driven by changing content consumption habits and increasing smartphone penetration.

Micro-Drama Focus:

TukTuki designed its platform for a short, vertical-format episodes of one to three minutes, targeting audiences seeking quick, engaging entertainment on mobile devices.

Rather than long-form content, the company is creating micro-dramas as a separate entertainment category for India’s growing mobile-first audience.

The platform has a library of over 200 titles across genres like relationships, social drama, mythology and aspirational storytelling. TukTuki drops around 25 new titles a month to keep its audience engaged.

The platform has also expanded into regional content with series in Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati, apart from Hindi-language originals.

The company is also working on a diversified monetisation plan tailored to India’s digital content ecosystem. While many global micro-drama models rely heavily on advertising, TukTuki is taking a subscription-led approach, supported by advertising and branded content opportunities.

Content Innovation:

The company’s content production strategy is built on artificial intelligence. TukTuki leverages AI-powered tools in pre-production workflows and localisation processes to optimise content creation and speed-up production timelines.

“These efficiencies enable the company to deliver high-volume, relatable content to Tier 2 and Tier 3 market audiences and reduce the barriers to content discovery and consumption,” the company said.

TukTuki has also been working with recognised film and television actors to build out its storytelling portfolio, as part of its content expansion plans.

Recent productions on the platform have featured actors like Rajneesh Duggal, Jaspal Sharma, Bhumika Gurung, Nikita Sharma and Sangeeta Odwani, as well as performers like Karan Mehra, Ayush Anand, Aditi Rawat, Manish Khanna, Pawan Yadav and Adarsh Chaudhary.

Commenting on the milestone, Anshita Kulshrestha, Founder and CEO, TukTuki said, the achievement is a reflection of a larger shift in audience behaviour.

“Crossing 1 million downloads is a strong validation of the fundamental shift in how audiences discover and consume stories today. In a mobile-first world, compelling narratives can unfold in minutes while still delivering immense emotional depth,” she said.

Kulshrestha added that the company’s understanding of short-form content consumption and its focus on building a large pipeline of family-friendly stories continue to differentiate the platform in an increasingly competitive market.
