Taapsee Pannu, known for her bold on-screen choices, welcomes viewers into her eclectic Mumbai home in the latest episode of Asian Paints Where the Heart Is Season 8. The actress offers a rare glimpse into a space that perfectly mirrors her unique personality, combining warmth, creativity, and personal storytelling.
Set in the bustling city of Mumbai, Taapsee’s home is more than just a living space—it’s a reflection of her roots and familial bonds. “Home is where my sister is,” shares Taapsee, emphasizing the close connection she shares with her sibling, Shagun Pannu. This bond, inspired by the relationship between her father and uncle, has been a cornerstone of her journey from Delhi to Hyderabad to Mumbai.
Growing up in a two-bedroom apartment with eight family members taught Taapsee to find joy in chaos and togetherness. These experiences shaped her vision of creating a home that balances solitude and connection. Spanning two distinct floors, her Mumbai abode brings this vision to life.
From the moment you step in, Taapsee’s playful humour welcomes you. Cheerful mats with messages like “You look nice today” and “Pretend this is a haveli” set a warm, light-hearted tone. Inside, each corner tells a unique story. “My house is like a world tour,” she says, referring to the artifacts and decor collected during her travels.
The European-inspired lower floor features souvenirs displayed on a vibrant ‘Asian Paints ki wall’, painted with bold, colourful stripes resembling a swatch book. Upstairs, the Indian-themed floor brings her Punjabi roots to life in what she lovingly calls “Pannu Pind.” The space includes textured walls, exposed brick, and carved wood paneling, creating a rustic and earthy vibe.
Every element of Taapsee’s home is deeply personal. The phulkari-upholstered furniture, handcrafted decor, and a Warli art wall narrating her life story reflect her love for traditional art. A quote from the Guru Granth Sahib celebrating women’s strength and dignity adorns one wall, showcasing her pride in her heritage. “How can you talk down upon someone who gives birth to kings?” she reflects.
Taapsee’s home also highlights her green thumb, with 137 plants, including a cherished avocado plant. The extensive use of wood throughout the house, especially on the floors, enhances the earthy and natural aesthetic, reminiscent of traditional Indian homes.
Sharing her decor advice, Shagun Pannu suggests starting with walls and ceilings, as they set the tone for the rest of the design.
Taapsee’s philosophy shines through every detail: “If my house walls could speak, they’d say, ‘Come to me.’” Her home truly embodies her warmth, individuality, and love for storytelling, making it a space she cherishes every day.
