Operation Ajay: Evacuating Stranded Indians from Israel - Unveiling the Plan
Operation Ajay: India's Comprehensive Plan to Evacuate Stranded Citizens from Israel - Ensuring Safe and Secure Return for Indian Nationals Abroad
In response to the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas, India has launched "Operation Ajay" to repatriate its citizens from Israel. The operation aims to ensure the safe return of Indians who wish to come back home as the region faces heightened tensions.
"Operation Ajay" is not technically an evacuation operation but rather a coordinated effort to facilitate the return of Indian nationals from Israel. Special chartered flights have been arranged to bring back citizens, and if necessary, Indian Navy ships will be deployed to support the operation.
Approximately 18,000 Indians reside in Israel, including students, professionals, and traders. The government is fully committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its nationals abroad. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar announced the launch of "Operation Ajay" and stated that special charter flights and other arrangements are being put in place to facilitate the return of Indian citizens from Israel.
The repatriation efforts began with the embassy in Tel Aviv sending emails to the first batch of registered Indians in Israel. Messages will follow for subsequent flights, ensuring that all registered individuals are informed of the arrangements.

The first batch of Indians is scheduled to be repatriated from Israel via a special flight. Notably, Israel's Consul General in Mumbai has reported no information regarding any Indian nationals being injured or killed during the ongoing conflict.
In a commendable effort, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) arranged for the safe passage of approximately 27 people from Meghalaya, including Rajya Sabha member Wanweiroy Kharlukhi, who were stranded in Bethlehem when the conflict erupted. These individuals were safely transported to Egypt to ensure their well-being and return home.
The launch of "Operation Ajay" underscores India's commitment to the safety and security of its citizens abroad and its proactive response to support those affected by the ongoing crisis in the region.
