I&B Minister Anurag Thakur provided insights in Lok Sabha regarding the government's financial commitment to print media advertising. According to a PTI report, since 2019, the Central Bureau of Communication has facilitated an expenditure of Rs 967.46 crore for print media advertisements. This substantial allocation spans from the financial year 2019-2020 to 2023-24.

Thakur's disclosure shed light on the comprehensive approach adopted by the government to leverage print media as a means of communication and outreach.

Moreover, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) shared statistics showcasing a progressive surge in registered periodicals with the Registrar of Newspapers for India. The count ascended to 1,48,363 in 2023, signifying a notable increase from 1,46,045 in 2022, 1,44,520 in 2021, 1,43,423 in 2020, and 1,19,995 in 2019. This upward trend underscores the expanding landscape of printed publications, emphasizing their enduring significance in disseminating information across the nation.
