Titan Eye+ Unveils ‘Ek Tara Test’—A Playful, Ancient-Inspired Vision Tool to Transform Children’s Eye Health Awareness
Titan Eye+ launches the ‘Ek Tara Test’, a glow-in-the-dark, star-spotting tool inspired by ancient vision checks to help parents detect early eyesight issues in children.
This Children’s Day, Titan Eye+ is turning a centuries-old sky legend into a meaningful modern-day health initiative. With the launch of its innovative ‘Ek Tara Test’, the brand is encouraging parents across India to take an active, engaging role in their children’s eye care. Designed as a simple yet effective preliminary screening tool, the Ek Tara Test draws from an ancient method used by hunters to assess sharp vision—now reimagined in a child-friendly, glow-in-the-dark format.
India faces a growing but often overlooked challenge: more than 3 crore children struggle with undetected vision problems that hinder their learning, confidence, and daily life. Recognising this silent epidemic, Titan Eye+ set out to create an accessible solution that dismantles both parental hesitation and the intimidation of clinical check-ups. The result is a campaign that transforms eye health awareness into something joyful, memorable, and easy to adopt at home.
The campaign film introduces viewers to Sahiba, a young girl navigating school life while quietly dealing with blurry vision. Her struggles—difficulty in class, loss of confidence, and gradual withdrawal from activities—mirror the experience of countless children whose eye issues remain unnoticed. Through Sahiba’s story, the film sheds light on a widespread misconception: that poor vision is a problem associated only with age. This myth often keeps parents from prioritising regular eye check-ups for their children.
To address this gap, Titan Eye+ traces inspiration back to an ancient practice once used by hunters. They were tested by their ability to spot two closely positioned stars—Alcor and Mizar—in the Saptarishi (Ursa Major) constellation. Those who could distinguish both points of light were considered to have exceptional vision. This principle has now been transformed into the Ek Tara Test, a glow-in-the-dark sheet with markings that let children playfully trace and match the star pattern.
Part puzzle, part celestial game, this tool is more than an engaging activity—it acts as a first-level screening tool for parents to understand if their child may have difficulty perceiving contrast or clarity. While not a replacement for a professional eye examination, it bridges the crucial gap between awareness and action, gently nudging parents to seek expert help if their child struggles with the simple test.
Speaking about the initiative, Maneesh Krishnamurthy, Head of Marketing, Eyecare Division, Titan Company, explained, “One in five children faces vision-related challenges, and many of them suffer in silence. With the Ek Tara Test, we wanted to offer parents a playful, meaningful way to start the conversation about eye health. By reviving an ancient technique and blending it with a fun family activity, we’re creating awareness in a space that has long been ignored.”
Adding to this, Puneet Kapoor, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy South, shared, “The charm of the Ek Tara Test lies in its simplicity. By combining the hunter’s vision test with the universal childhood fascination of stargazing, we’ve turned a classic ritual into an interactive screening tool. It channels a child’s curiosity into something valuable—early detection and timely action.”
Titan Eye+ emphasises that while the Ek Tara Test is backed by scientific research, it is meant purely as a screening aid and cannot replace a comprehensive eye examination by a qualified optometrist.
With the Ek Tara Test, Titan Eye+ is not just launching a product—it is sparking a cultural shift. By bringing together history, storytelling, and innovation, the brand is empowering parents to take proactive steps and ensure that no child’s potential is limited by blurry, unnoticed vision.
