OnePlus Invests ₹2,000 Crores to Improve Products and Services
OnePlus announces ₹2,000 crore Project Starlight to boost product innovation, service quality, and connectivity with 5.5G and AI-focused solutions in India.
OnePlus has announced an ambitious ₹2,000 crore investment plan under the banner of Project Starlight, focusing on product innovation and service improvement in India. Over the next three years, the company will significantly enhance its products and services to cater to the needs of Indian consumers. According to Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, the initiative reflects the brand’s dedication to understanding the challenges faced by Indian users, such as extreme weather conditions, heavy usage, and extended device lifecycles.
The first step of Project Starlight involves making OnePlus devices more durable. The brand will introduce cutting-edge display technology, including the world’s first DisplayMate A++ display. This new display is designed to offer outstanding brightness and clarity, even under the intense sunlight of India. The upcoming OnePlus flagship device will feature the 2K 120Hz ProXDR Display, with a peak brightness of 4500 nits, ensuring vibrant colors and clear visibility. Additionally, the new displays are designed to offer a comfortable viewing experience for users who spend long hours on their phones, particularly in low-light conditions.
OnePlus is also tackling a common issue with AMOLED displays, the green line, by introducing the Green Line Worry-Free Solution. This involves adding a protective layer to the displays and conducting more rigorous testing to minimize any risks. The company is also extending its lifetime warranty to cover green line display issues, providing users with peace of mind regarding the quality and reliability of their devices.
Beyond hardware advancements, Project Starlight focuses on improving service quality. OnePlus has already expanded its service centers by 22%, including an 11% increase in exclusive service centers. By 2026, the company aims to increase its service centers by 50%. OnePlus is also enhancing its online services, offering hotline support, WhatsApp assistance, and live chat. These improvements are paired with better training for technical staff, ensuring quicker and more effective support. The company is upgrading its flagship retail stores and empowering third-party outlets to improve the in-store service experience for customers.
In line with the needs of Indian consumers, OnePlus is also focusing on AI functionalities and providing solutions for stable, high-speed connectivity. The upcoming OnePlus 13 Series will be the first smartphone in India to offer 5.5G connectivity, improving speeds by 380%. OnePlus is also debuting a customized signal optimization feature for places like the Delhi Metro, ensuring users enjoy better network performance. Additionally, the Steady Connect feature in the OnePlus 13 Series will extend Bluetooth range up to 360 meters, making it easier for users to stay connected in areas with heavy interference, like subway stations or gyms.
With Project Starlight, OnePlus is solidifying its commitment to the Indian market. By focusing on long-term performance and innovation, the company aims to address the unique needs of Indian consumers, ensuring a superior user experience and reinforcing its position as a trusted technology brand in India.
