Pocket FM Partners With OpenAI To Scale AI-Led Audio Storytelling For Global Creator Ecosystem

India’s audio storytelling platform Pocket FM has announced a collaboration with OpenAI to integrate advanced artificial intelligence tools across its content creation ecosystem. The partnership signals a deeper push by the platform to automate and scale parts of the storytelling pipeline while expanding opportunities for its global creator community.

As part of the collaboration, Pocket FM will integrate OpenAI’s APIs into multiple workstreams within its production infrastructure. The tools will support faster content development, localisation, and distribution across the platform, which currently serves more than 300,000 creators worldwide.

The move builds on Pocket FM’s broader strategy to restructure its content stack around generative AI. The company began implementing AI-driven production workflows in 2023, enabling creators to develop audio series with faster turnaround and scalable output. Since then, AI-generated or AI-assisted titles have emerged as the fastest-growing segment on the platform.

Pocket FM says it now hosts more than 100,000 AI-native audio series, with AI-led titles expanding at an average growth rate of roughly 30% month-on-month. The integration of OpenAI’s technology is expected to further accelerate that pace by helping creators generate scripts, adapt stories across languages, and streamline production processes that traditionally required larger teams.

“At Pocket FM, AI is foundational to everything we do. Our collaboration with OpenAI takes our AI vision to a new level,” said Prateek Dixit, Co-founder – Product, Tech and AI at Pocket FM. “By combining OpenAI's APIs with our deep content infrastructure and creator ecosystem, we are building something the world has not seen before: an entertainment platform where a single creator in any corner of the world can produce, publish, and reach millions of listeners globally, with the quality and consistency of a full production studio.”

From a broader industry perspective, the partnership reflects how audio platforms are increasingly using AI to solve the scale problem in content creation. Unlike video streaming, where production budgets and timelines remain relatively high, AI-enabled audio storytelling allows platforms to experiment with high-volume, serialized formats designed for global audiences.

The integration also highlights the growing importance of localisation in the audio entertainment market. Pocket FM reports more than 12 billion minutes of monthly listening across its platform, much of it driven by episodic storytelling formats that travel across markets through translation and adaptation.

Oliver Jay, Managing Director – International at OpenAI, said the collaboration demonstrates how AI can expand creative access rather than replace human storytelling. “Pocket FM is demonstrating how AI can help creators scale storytelling for global audiences. Our collaboration brings OpenAI’s technology into their creator ecosystem to support faster content creation, localisation, and distribution.”

For creators, the implications are significant. Tools that previously required professional studios or production teams are gradually becoming accessible to individuals working independently. The ability to script, produce, translate and distribute stories at scale could open the platform to a wider set of creators who may not have traditional publishing or media infrastructure.

For the broader media industry, the partnership signals how AI is reshaping content economics. Platforms like Pocket FM are positioning themselves not just as distribution channels, but as technology ecosystems that enable creators to build scalable storytelling businesses.

As generative AI tools become more embedded in content pipelines, the competitive edge may shift toward platforms that can combine technology infrastructure, creator communities, and global distribution. Pocket FM’s collaboration with OpenAI suggests that audio storytelling could become one of the earliest entertainment formats to fully operationalise AI-driven production at scale.
