The Godrej family has decided to divide its 127-year-old conglomerate into two distinct branches. Adi and Nadir Godrej will oversee Godrej Industries, along with its five listed firms, while their cousins Jamshyd and Smita will take charge of the unlisted Godrej & Boyce.
This ownership realignment aims to enhance strategic direction, focus, and agility, ultimately accelerating the creation of long-term value for shareholders and stakeholders. The implementation of this realignment is subject to regulatory approvals.
Under the reorganization, the Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG), encompassing Godrej & Boyce (G&B) and its affiliates, will be led by Jamshyd Godrej, Nyrika Holkar, and their immediate families. GEG operates across diverse industries such as aerospace, aviation, defense, energy, and healthcare, among others.
On the other hand, the Godrej Industries Group (GIG), comprising listed companies like Godrej Industries, Godrej Consumer Products, and Godrej Properties, will be chaired by Nadir Godrej and managed by Adi Godrej, Nadir Godrej, and their immediate families. Pirojsha Godrej will succeed Nadir Godrej as the chairperson of GIG in August 2026.
Commenting on the future prospects, Jamshyd Godrej expressed confidence in driving growth aspirations by leveraging core strengths in high-tech engineering and design-led innovation. Nadir Godrej emphasized the company's enduring values of trust, respect, and commitment to community development, reaffirming their dedication to building on the legacy established since 1897.
Both groups will retain the Godrej brand and are committed to preserving and enhancing their shared heritage.
