Honda Cars India Posts 20% Growth in 2024 Sales

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), a key player in the Indian automobile market, achieved an impressive 20% growth in total sales during 2024, selling 1,31,871 units compared to 1,10,143 units in 2023. This growth was fueled by record-breaking exports of 63,221 units, up significantly from 25,854 units in 2023.

Domestic sales in 2024 stood at 68,650 units, reflecting a dip from 84,289 units in 2023. In December alone, HCIL sold 9,460 units, with 5,603 in domestic sales and 3,857 in exports, marking a steady end to the year.

Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at HCIL, credited the growth to the success of the Honda Elevate, a midsize SUV that played a pivotal role in boosting export numbers. He remarked, “2024 was a mixed bag for the industry, but HCIL achieved its highest-ever export figures, solidifying India’s position as a key manufacturing hub for Honda globally.”

Adding to the momentum, HCIL launched the third-generation Honda Amaze in November 2024, receiving an overwhelming response. The company anticipates higher delivery volumes for the Amaze in early 2025, bolstered by its strong commitment to the Indian market.

Honda's strategic focus on exports and the success of new models underscore its adaptability in a challenging domestic market. The year 2024 not only marked a milestone in exports but also set the stage for further growth in 2025.
