Jubilant Foods Switches from PepsiCo to Coca-Cola in Landmark Deal
Jubilant Foods ends its PepsiCo partnership to join hands with Coca-Cola, promising innovative beverage options across its global restaurant network.
Indian quick-service restaurant operator Jubilant Food Ltd (JFL) has made a major business shift by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Coca-Cola for supplying and marketing sparkling beverages and other products across its outlets. This move comes after JFL's longstanding partnership with PepsiCo since 2018 for beverage services at its popular restaurant chains, including Domino's Pizza.
The decision to partner with Coca-Cola is closely tied to the Jubilant Bhartia Group's recent acquisition of a 40% stake in Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, Coca-Cola’s Indian bottling arm. This strategic investment, worth approximately Rs 10,000 crore, signals a deeper alignment between the two companies.
According to a recent regulatory filing, the MoU establishes the principal terms for JFL to purchase Coca-Cola's portfolio of beverages from authorised bottlers and to lead marketing efforts for the global beverage brand.
JFL operates a vast network of 3,130 stores spanning six countries, including India, Turkey, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Apart from managing the immensely popular Domino's Pizza, JFL also holds franchise rights for global brands like Popeyes and Dunkin'. Additionally, the company has developed its own successful brands, such as Hong’s Kitchen, an Indo-Chinese quick-service restaurant, and COFFY, a café brand in Turkey.
This partnership with Coca-Cola could give JFL a competitive edge, offering customers a fresh lineup of beverages while helping Coca-Cola expand its market share. The shift is expected to drive innovation in food and beverage pairing and create new opportunities for both companies.
Industry experts see this deal as a win-win collaboration that not only diversifies JFL’s product offerings but also strengthens Coca-Cola's presence in the region. With JFL's extensive reach and Coca-Cola's global appeal, this partnership is likely to reshape the beverage landscape in India's thriving quick-service restaurant industry.
