Mukesh Ambani, Isha Ambani’s Rs 9 lakh crore firm likely to buy Alia Bhatt’s brand for Rs 300 crore
Mukesh Ambani's colossal Rs 9 lakh crore firm, led by Isha Ambani, is reportedly considering a Rs 300 crore acquisition of Alia Bhatt's brand. A potential mega-deal in the making.
Reliance Brands, a subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures led by Mukesh and Isha Ambani, is set to acquire star Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt's children apparel firm Ed-a-Mamma. The Ambanis are planning to buy Alia Bhatt's brand for a whopping Rs 300-Rs 350 crore. Alia Bhat started Ed-a-Mamma in October 2020, and the brand has had a wonderful reaction from buyers since then. Ed-a-Mamma primarily serves the online market and is available on the majority of digital marketplaces. Buyers can also browse Alia Bhatt's collection on the official website.
The acquisition of Ed-a-Mamma will help Mukesh and Isha Ambani enhance their footprint in the children's clothing category.
Earlier last year, it was estimated that Alia Bhatt's Ed-a-Mamma was worth more than Rs 150 crore. Mukesh and Isha Ambani are interested in purchasing a brand that caters to children aged 2 to 14. Ed-a-Mamma is entirely self-made and has operated on a direct-to-consumer (D2C) business model from its inception.
Reliance Retail is currently valued at over Rs 918000 crore, and such acquisitions would help the brand develop even quicker. When it comes to valuation, it has already surpassed FMCG behemoths like ITC and HUL.
Mukesh Ambani nominated Isha Ambani as Reliance Retail's new CEO in August 2022. At the time, the company had a turnover of Rs 2 lakh crore. As a Reliance Retail partner brand, Jimmy Choo, Georgio Armani, Hugo Boss, Versace, Michael Kors, Brooks Brothers, Armani Exchange, Burberry, and many other global brands are available in India.
