India’s beauty and personal care sector boomed in 2024, as Honasa Consumer Ltd, the parent company of brands like Mamaearth, The Derma Co., and Aqualogica, revealed a staggering 99.2 million beauty and personal care products sold across 18,700+ pincodes. This highlights a growing shift towards self-care, with products reaching both urban hubs and remote corners of the country.

Goa earned the title of the “sunscreen capital,” while Bengaluru embraced dry shampoos for quick fixes.

A customer in Jhansi made headlines by purchasing 45 bottles of Aqualogica Glow+ Sunscreen, and a K-drama fan in Guwahati bought 61 tubes of Mamaearth Rice Facewash, enough for 8 years of glowing skin.

During Chhath Puja, 10,000 Mamaearth Ruby Red Lipsticks were sold, while Raipur saw a rise in science-backed skincare.

Hyderabad became India’s baby care capital, and Gurgaon shoppers popularized Aqualogica Mists as ideal gifts for girlfriends. In Surat, one shopper ordered 155 Ubtan Face Masks for a Haldi ceremony.

Top-Selling Products and Categories

Skincare ruled the market with over 26.2 million facewashes sold, making it a daily essential.

Sun care products followed closely, with 15.9 million units, reflecting heightened awareness about UV protection.

Haircare also flourished, with 11.6 million shampoos purchased, while 5.9 million moisturizers highlighted the focus on hydration.

Popular choices included Mamaearth’s Ubtan Face Wash, Dr. Sheth’s Ceramide & Vitamin C Moisturizer, and Aqualogica’s Glow+ Dewy Sunscreens.

Mamaearth dominated the baby care category, selling 7.2 million units of products like Baby Sunscreen and Mosquito Repellent Patches, while its Onion Range sold 580 tons worth of products.

Serums emerged as a skincare favorite, with 7.7 million units sold. The Niacinamide Serum led the way with 1.5 million units, helping achieve clear, smooth skin, while Salicylic Acid Serums gained traction for acne treatment.

In 2024, Honasa products became staples in beauty routines, blending natural solutions with science-driven formulations. As India’s love for skincare grows, 2025 promises to deliver even more personalized, effective products tailored for Indian consumers.
