Hyundai Unveils High-Tech Traffic Engineering Centre in Gurugram
Hyundai Motor India Foundation launches Gurugram’s first Traffic Engineering Centre, integrating advanced technology and training programs to improve road safety and traffic management.
Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has taken a bold step towards enhancing road safety in Gurugram. The company inaugurated the city’s first-ever Traffic Engineering Centre and Organization Development Centre, located at the DCP’s office in Haryana. This groundbreaking facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology designed to transform traffic management and improve road safety for the city’s residents.
The newly launched Traffic Engineering Centre can monitor a staggering 1,100 cameras across 218 traffic junctions from a single location. With its ability to offer a live view of 25 cameras simultaneously, the system ensures real-time action and a rapid response time to incidents. This technology aids in analyzing accidents, identifying their causes, detecting faults in traffic flow, and providing data-driven recommendations for improvements.
The Organization Development Centre, also part of this initiative, serves as a training hub for Gurugram’s Traffic Police personnel. Officers will undergo specialized training programs to enhance their skills in traffic management, accident analysis, and emergency response. This ensures a well-equipped force ready to tackle the city’s increasing traffic challenges.
These centers form part of Hyundai’s broader ‘Easy Roads’ initiative, which focuses on improving road safety through the 3E’s: Education, Engineering, and Enforcement. Hyundai aims to create a safer, more efficient transportation ecosystem, not just in Gurugram but across the country.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, highlighted the significance of this initiative:
“The launch of the first-ever Traffic Engineering Centre in Gurugram marks a significant milestone in our journey to improve road safety. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, we aim to reduce accidents, improve driver behavior, and create a safer ecosystem for citizens. I am confident this facility will serve as a model for other cities across India.”
The Traffic Engineering Centre operates as a collaborative effort between HMIF, the Haryana Police, the Institute of Road Traffic Education, and the TSL Foundation. This partnership brings together expertise and advanced tools to tackle road safety challenges effectively.
With its comprehensive focus on technology and training, this initiative is set to revolutionize road safety in Gurugram, positioning it as a model city for other states to emulate. By addressing the root causes of traffic accidents and equipping traffic officers with modern tools, Gurugram is on its way to becoming a safer place for drivers and pedestrians alike.
