YouTube Removes Millions of Videos in India for Guidelines Violations
Google's report: 9,012,232 videos, 20,592,341 channels removed (Oct-Dec 2023) due to guideline violations, as per transparency report
YouTube, owned by Google, has taken down a staggering 2,254,902 videos in India alone due to breaches of its community guidelines, as revealed in Google's recent transparency report.
During the period spanning October 2023 to December 2023, YouTube globally removed a total of 9,012,232 videos and 20,592,341 channels. India emerges as a frontrunner in video removals on the platform.
The transparency report outlines the criteria for channel termination, including the violation of three community guidelines within a 90-day period, instances of severe abuse such as predatory behavior, or channels solely dedicated to flouting YouTube's regulations.
In a recent development, YouTube introduced a new tool aimed at ensuring transparency in content creation. This tool mandates content creators to inform viewers when videos feature realistic content generated through AI or other forms of altered or synthetic media.
This move underscores YouTube's commitment to maintaining integrity and transparency in its platform, as it continues to grapple with emerging challenges related to content authenticity and adherence to community standards.
