Teeling Whiskey, the renowned Irish whiskey producer, has officially entered the Indian market through an exclusive partnership with Bacardi. The brand is introducing two premium variantsSmall Batch Classic and Teeling Single Malt—to select Indian cities, marking a significant step in its global expansion.

A Timely Entry into India’s Growing Irish Whiskey Market

According to Jack Teeling, founder and managing director of Teeling Whiskey, the brand’s launch in India is perfectly timed. “Traditionally, Irish whiskey hasn’t had a strong presence in India. However, since 2018-19, the category has shown impressive growth, with India now ranking among the top 10 markets for Irish whiskey worldwide,” he shared in an interview with ETRetail.

Recognizing this momentum, Teeling Whiskey has debuted its Small Batch Classic exclusively in cities like Delhi, Gurugram, Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh. The rest of India can expect its rollout by 2025. With a presence in 80 countries, Teeling Whiskey views India as one of the fastest-growing markets, making it a critical part of its expansion strategy.

Teeling’s Small Batch Classic is specially crafted for the Indian audience, offering a balance of creamy vanilla and spicy fruit notes. Bottled at 46% ABV and produced without chill filtration, the whiskey retains its natural character, aligning with the brand's commitment to quality.

"We’ve developed a reputation for innovation and for creating unique, premium expressions tailored to specific markets," said Teeling. He emphasized that their Small Batch Classic is designed to resonate with Indian whiskey enthusiasts, blending traditional Irish craftsmanship with flavors that cater to local preferences.

Teeling Whiskey’s collaboration with Bacardi is key to its Indian market entry. Bacardi will serve as both the importer and partner, leveraging its complementary portfolio of brands to establish Teeling’s foothold in the country. “We’re starting with just two variants to build awareness and brand equity, but as our presence grows, we plan to introduce more options,” Teeling explained.

The next batch of Teeling Whiskey for India is already in production and is expected to be ready by January 2025. Teeling believes that the brand's focus on premium quality and tailored innovation will help it thrive in India’s rapidly evolving whiskey market.

With its entry into India, Teeling Whiskey reinforces its global reputation as a pioneer in premium Irish whiskey, offering Indian consumers a taste of Ireland’s whiskey heritage with a contemporary twist.
