Hindware Empowers Girls with Toilets and Dreams Through CSR Initiative

Hindware, a leading bathware brand, is taking its impactful initiative, ‘Build a Toilet, Build Her Future,’ to greater heights under its #HygieneThatEmpowers CSR program. Launched in 2020, this campaign focuses on improving access to safe and hygienic sanitation facilities in schools to empower girls to pursue uninterrupted education. This year, the initiative has adopted the inspiring theme, ‘Dare to Dream,’ showcasing how proper sanitation enables girls to envision and achieve their aspirations.

The issue of inadequate sanitation in rural areas continues to be a major obstacle for many young girls. According to studies, poor sanitation contributes to 23% of girls dropping out of school after puberty, and a Sulabh International survey highlights that girls miss up to 60 days of school annually due to inadequate facilities during menstruation. Hindware’s program directly addresses these challenges by ensuring clean and safe toilets in schools, fostering a conducive environment for girls to stay in school.

In partnership with Manas Foundation, the initiative has already constructed over 400 toilets in 120 schools across Delhi, Haryana, Roorkee, and Telangana. Looking forward, Hindware aims to build an additional 100 toilets by FY25, further reinforcing its commitment to education and sanitation for girls.

Speaking about the initiative, Sudhanshu Pokhriyal, CEO of Hindware’s Bath and Tiles Business, stated,
Dare to Dream embodies the essence of our program by encouraging girls to envision a brighter future. Every toilet built and every school impacted brings us closer to a nation where girls can pursue their education without hindrance. We remain committed to breaking barriers and empowering young girls, building a stronger and more equitable India.”

Hindware is also leveraging social media platforms to amplify the voices of young girls who have benefited from the initiative. These inspiring stories aim to raise awareness and encourage support for improving sanitation infrastructure, highlighting its role in advancing girls’ education and empowerment.

Shashvat Somany, Head of Strategy at Somany Impresa Group and Independent Director of Hindware, expressed gratitude toward the program’s supporters:
“As we enter the fifth year of this campaign, our dedication to empowering young girls remains unwavering. By ensuring uninterrupted education through better sanitation, we are truly investing in India’s future. We are deeply thankful to our partners and communities for their unwavering support.”

The initiative is not only providing essential infrastructure but also creating a ripple effect, empowering girls to realise their dreams and contribute to society. Hindware’s focus on sanitation is a testament to its commitment to sustainable development goals and fostering gender equality in India.
