Ambuja Cements Leads Nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign for Cleanliness

Ambuja Cements, a key player in the Adani Group's cement and building materials sector, is making a significant impact through its involvement in the government’s ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign. This nationwide initiative promotes cleanliness, hygiene, and sustainable waste management practices in various communities across India. Ambuja Cements has been actively driving these initiatives, creating awareness, and encouraging collective action to foster lasting behavioural change among community members.

In Farakka, West Bengal, the campaign engaged the community in cleanliness activities, including cleaning public spaces and spreading bleaching powder to improve sanitation. This initiative successfully removed an estimated 2.5 to 3 quintals of waste from key black spots in the village, showcasing the tangible impact of community-driven cleanliness efforts.

A similar effort was undertaken in Khambada, Warora, Maharashtra, where a Cleanliness Rally was organized. Villagers gathered, took an oath of cleanliness, and participated in a village-wide cleaning drive. This rally helped instil values of hygiene and sanitation, encouraging residents to take ownership of their community’s cleanliness.

In Darlaghat, Himachal Pradesh, local community members, including PRI members, school heads, and teachers, took a cleanliness oath as part of the campaign. A painting competition titled ‘Swachhata Hi Seva, Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata’ was held in collaboration with the ACL Mines Department, aimed at raising awareness about hygiene through creative expression. Additionally, health volunteers and Swachhta Doots (Community Sanitation Volunteers) conducted a sanitation drive that thoroughly cleaned important village areas.

Ambuja Cements also made a difference in Bathinda, Punjab, by organizing poster competitions at four government schools and holding cleanliness drives across multiple villages under the Human Resource Development Program (HRDP). In Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, the company collaborated with Gram Panchayats, farmers, women’s groups, and schools to conduct plastic collection drives, painting competitions, and other activities focused on sustainable waste management.

The campaign extended to Pragati Village in Bhatapara, where an awareness meeting and rally took place. Similarly, Sankrail saw a Swachhata Abhiyan campaign conducted with SHG women and adolescents, focusing on village cleanliness and awareness. In Chandrapur, various sanitation programs, including a painting competition and plastic collection drives, were organized in partnership with the local Gram Panchayat and schools.

Ambuja Cements continues to drive impactful community initiatives like Swachhata Hi Seva, reinforcing its commitment to improving cleanliness, hygiene, and public health across rural India.
