ZEE Keralam, the Malayalam general entertainment channel from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), has appointed Anand Shankar as its new Head of Marketing.

Shankar joins the regional broadcaster from Balaji Telefilms where he was the Sales Lead for the South and East markets.

Leading Brand Growth

In his new role, Shankar will lead ZEE Keralam’s marketing strategy with a focus on localised campaigns, audience growth and strengthening the channel’s brand presence in the competitive television and entertainment landscape of Kerala.

He is charged with growing the channel’s footprint across the key audience segments and increasing viewer engagement.

Shankar has over 13 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry across television, OTT, digital media, radio and experience marketing.

His career spans many aspects of content distribution, audience development and consumer engagement, giving him experience in both traditional and digital media platforms.

Previous Roles:

Shankar was earlier with Balaji Telefilms where he was heading sales operations in South and East India prior to joining ZEE Keralam.

Before this, he was with Arha Media, the holding company of Telugu streaming platform aha, for over three years, spearheading market expansion and digital monetisation initiatives.

He has also worked with The Muthoot Group, where he was responsible for media portfolios and consumer engagement activities, and had a stint with Radio Mirchi, where he was involved in entertainment marketing.

The appointment comes amid continued investment in audience acquisition and brand-building initiatives by regional broadcasters in particular, as they face increasing competition from television networks, digital streaming platforms and local content providers.

Shankar’s experience in content, sales, digital platforms and consumer marketing is expected to make a key contribution to ZEE Keralam’s market position and viewer engagement across the state.
