Instagram introduces video status feature: here's a usage overview
Instagram introduces 2-second video status, expanding user expression alongside last year's Notes feature, diversifying content options and enhancing engagement opportunities for users
Instagram takes a leap forward by extending its Notes feature to accommodate video statuses lasting around 2 seconds. Distinct from the widely used 'Stories,' these video notes offer a brief time frame, exclusively recorded via the app's front camera and inaccessible from users' device storage. Once shared, these clips will be visible to close friends and mutual followers for 24 hours.
To leverage this new feature:
- 1. Open Instagram and navigate to your inbox.
- 2. Tap on your photo in the Notes tray and access the camera icon.
- 3. Record a 2-second video using the front-facing camera.
- 4. Add contextual text and post your video note.
Instagram also introduces enhanced reply options for Notes, enabling users to respond with audio, photos, videos, or stickers, directly sent to the receiver's inbox.
In parallel developments, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveils upcoming AI-powered features for Facebook and Instagram. These features, Emu Video and Emu Edit, stem from Emu, Meta's foundational image generation model.
The Emu Edit tool empowers users to meticulously edit images by altering specific pixels, enabling a gamut of modifications—local/global editing, background changes, color geometry transformations, detection, segmentation, and more.
Additionally, Emu Video facilitates video creation using text prompts, images, or their fusion, providing a novel content creation avenue for users on these platforms.
