SLMG Beverages, Coca-Cola’s largest bottler in India, anticipates the share of its zero-calorie and low-sugar beverages to increase to 5-6% of total sales by FY27, with rising consumer demand for healthier drink alternatives.

According to reports, the segment currently contributes around 3-4% to the company’s sales but management believes that it is on the cusp of very high double-digit growth as health-conscious consumption patterns continue to evolve.

Demand for Healthier Choices Accelerates:

The company said demand for zero-sugar beverages has been growing rapidly, especially among younger consumers looking for alternatives to traditional soft drinks.

The trend is primarily driven by urban consumers and Gen Z shoppers as awareness surrounding fitness, wellness, and lifestyle choices is growing.

The change is prompting SLMG to increase its focus on the company’s low and no sugar portfolio as part of its long-term growth strategy.

Diet Coke Sees Strong Summer Demand:

The momentum in the category was most evident in the recent summer season, where Diet Coke saw a spike in demand that led to temporary stock-outs across retail and e-commerce channels.

SLMG said it has since resolved supply constraints and is re-evaluating its inventory and distribution planning to ensure availability meets consumer demand.

Executives said demand was better than expected and lasted beyond the traditional summer peak.
