The ICC's 2023 World Cup promo causes a frenzy online, starring Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, adding glamour and excitement to the cricketing event.
Shah Rukh Khan voices the 2023 World Cup promo and appears near the end of the video, which also features a number of cricketers, including India's Shubman Gill.
With the 2023 Men's Cricket World Cup only a few months away, anticipation for the tournament's return to India is growing. The International Cricket Council (ICC) produced a promotional film for their forthcoming premier competition, and they rightfully chose one of India's best stars to be the face of their World Cup advertising. The remarkable 2-minute long video, focusing on the tournament's ethos and tagline — 'All it takes is one day', is narrated by Shah Rukh Khan. Khan is one of the most well-known faces in Indian cinema, and he has a stake in the Kolkata Knight Riders, an Indian Premier League franchise. Khan narrates the film, discussing the experiences and emotions that come during the biggest of all cricket tournaments, while also playing on the format's name.
"There is one day between making history and being history." On that one day, jerseys will be worn, and chests will expand with pride. On that one day, passion will triumph over reasoning, and memories will be carved. On that one day, fears will be overcome and odds will be overcome. On that one day, everything will be embraced, from the highs of ecstasy to the lows of pain," .
The video comes after an image of Khan standing with the ICC trophy was shared on Wednesday night, which went viral. The film features visuals of fans and memorable moments in World Cup history from all ten participating teams, with waving flags and national colors on full show. Guest appearances include 2019 World Cup captain Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Jonty Rhodes, Muttiah Muralitharan, Shubman Gill, and even Jemimah Rodrigues dancing with fellow Indian fans in one of the images. "Rivalries will be redefined on the field, and respect will be reimagined in the stands," SRK says. A billion people's hearts will be filled with the power of belief. On that one day, songs will be sung, dances will be performed, and eyes will open in awe. And glory will be immortalized when that day comes, and when that day finally comes."
"This is the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, for everything ever dreamed, pushed for, and lived for, it only takes one day," the movie star concludes in the video.
The Cricket World Cup is nearing its conclusion, with the tournament returning to Asian soil after a 12-year absence. India will once again host a carnival of supporters from all over the world, hoping for a famous conclusion like the one offered by the 2011 World Cup at home. The tournament kicks off on October 5 with a match between the previous edition's finalists, England and New Zealand, in Ahmedabad's historic Narendra Modi Stadium.
