The Power Partnership: Merging Hollywood Storytelling with Spatial Computing

In a major strategic move bridging cutting-edge spatial technology with global pop-culture appeal, Hollywood superstar Robert Downey Jr. has officially joined SPECS as its Honorary Chief Customer Experience Officer (CCEO). SPECS, known for its see-through augmented reality (AR) glasses that allow users to interact with digital environments via voice and hand gestures, aims to make spatial computing an everyday reality.

In his new executive role, Downey Jr. will work closely across hardware teams, original content development, and in-person experiences to help consumers visualize the transformative potential of AR across daily life, business, and entertainment.

A 40-Second Spark: Passion Meets Purpose in Augmented Reality

Downey Jr. brings nearly two decades of fascination with augmented reality to the brand. Recounting his initiation, the actor revealed that he was completely sold on the product within just 40 seconds of trying the glasses.

He highlighted the potential applications of SPECS across entertainment, education, business, and creative fields.

"Robert’s long-standing interest in the possibilities of augmented reality will help us bring our vision to life," said Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc.

Omnichannel Campaign Activation: Web Series & Global Broadcast Debut

To kick off the collaboration, Downey Jr. has launched a series of original episodes demonstrating practical, real-world applications of SPECS technology. The episodes explore how the glasses can be used to set up interactive digital workspaces, refine golf swings, stream entertainment, and develop artistic skills.

SPECS is executing a multi-touchpoint media strategy to reach audiences across channels:

  • Digital First: The full video series is available directly on the official SPECS website and YouTube channel.
  • Sports & Broadcast Integration: The marketing partnership will make its broadcast debut during the New York Knicks versus Philadelphia 76ers Tip-Off game.
  • Prime-Time Spotlight: An episode from the series is also scheduled to air nationally during Game 1 of the World Series on October 23.
