GSK Unveils Shingles Awareness Campaign Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Pahwa
GSK's New Shingles Awareness Campaign with Amitabh Bachchan Highlights Risks, Urges Adults Over 50 to Discuss Prevention with Their Doctors
GSK has unveiled a new campaign aimed at raising awareness about shingles, featuring renowned actors Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Pahwa. The campaign, titled "Yeh Science Hai," uses relatable conversations between two friends to highlight the increased risk of shingles, particularly in individuals with diabetes.
The campaign includes two films: one focuses on the connection between chickenpox and shingles, while the other emphasizes the heightened vulnerability of people with diabetes to the disease. Through these narratives, the campaign urges adults over 50 to discuss shingles prevention with their doctors.
Manoj Pahwa, who is featured in the campaign, shared his personal connection to the initiative, stating, “I am in an age group that is susceptible to shingles, and through GSK’s campaigns, I have learned more about this painful disease. I am proud to be part of this effort to educate others about shingles and the importance of prevention.”
Vigyeta Agrawal, Patient Empowerment Head at GSK, highlighted the importance of the campaign, noting that many people, even those who have had shingles, are unaware of its causes. She emphasized the role of Amitabh Bachchan in the campaign, stating that his widespread appeal will help reach and encourage more people to take preventative measures against shingles.
Harikrishnan Pillai, co-founder and CEO of Blitzkraig, part of TheSmallBigIdea Network, explained the creative approach behind the films, which aim to deliver clear and memorable messages about the risks and prevention of shingles.
The campaign films will be distributed across various platforms, including YouTube, Google Display, Meta, OTT platforms, and TV channels. Additionally, a partnership with the popular television quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) has been established to further promote the campaign.
