Sony MAX To Premiere Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ On May 31
Sony MAX will premiere Aamir Khan’s “Sitaare Zameen Par” on May 31 following the film’s successful theatrical and digital run.
Sony MAX announced the World Television Premiere of Aamir Khan starrer Sitaare Zameen Par on May 31 at 1 PM, after the film did well at the box office and on digital platforms.
The film resonated well with audiences with its emotional storytelling and themes of family, individuality and inclusivity, said the channel.
The story is about Gulshan Arora, a basketball coach, played by Amir Khan, who finds his life taking an unexpected turn when a drunk-driving incident lands him community service, where he is assigned to coach a team of neurodivergent basketball players.

Inclusive Storytelling Focus:
R.S. Prasanna has directed the film which features Genelia Deshmukh, Naman Misra, Rishabh Jain, Aroush Datta, Ashish Pendse, Simran Mangeshkar, Vedant Sharma, Samvit Desai, Rishi Shahani, Aayush Bhansali and Gopikrishnan K Varma in the lead roles.
Several cast members are real people and not trained actors, the makers said, which adds authenticity and emotional depth to the film’s narrative.
“We made this film as a warm and emotional story that we wanted families to watch together,” Aamir Khan said in a statement on the TV premiere.
“We wanted to tell a story that feels warm, joyful and full of heart- a film that families could sit together and enjoy,” Khan said.
“Sony MAX’s long association with family entertainment made the television premiere even more special as the film reaches out to a wider audience across India,” said Khan.

Genelia Deshmukh said, "The story is about the importance to recognise people for their ability and not for their limitations.
“We often label people based on what they can't do, but this story celebrates all that they can achieve,” Deshmukh said.
The film has been produced under Aamir Khan Productions alongside producers Aparna Purohit, B. Shrinivas Rao and Ravi Bhagchandka.
