OpenAI has appointed former Apple executive Mili Kapoor as Consumer Marketing Lead, strengthening its marketing leadership and consumer engagement efforts in India.

OpenAI has hired Mili Kapoor as its Consumer Marketing Lead, adding to its marketing leadership team in India as the artificial intelligence company increases its consumer-facing operations in the country.

Based out of Delhi, Kapoor will lead consumer engagement and brand initiatives for OpenAI.

She announced her appointment in a LinkedIn post, saying she was “excited to join the company and the opportunity to combine her love of technology and storytelling.

The new role, she said, “is a combination of two areas that have defined my professional journey and a reflection of my continued interest in building consumer-focused technology brands.”

Kapoor, who had been the Product Marketing Lead for iPad in India for over a year at Apple, is now joining OpenAI. In this role, she led product marketing for the company’s iPad portfolio.

Before joining Apple she was Consumer Marketing Leader at Philips.

Kapoor brings close to 20 years of experience across consumer marketing, brand building and product strategy.

Her career spans leadership roles across a range of industries, including technology, consumer goods and lifestyle, with organisations such as Meta, Nestlé Professional, Nestlé Purina PetCare, Pernod Ricard, Technopak Advisors, VF Corporation and National Geographic India.

With experience across global brands and multiple sectors, Kapoor's appointment comes as OpenAI continues to strengthen its presence in India and invest in consumer marketing as adoption of artificial intelligence tools grows across the country.
