Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi's Global Vice President, has announced his departure from the Chinese consumer electronics business after nearly a decade of service.
Jain was one of the company's first employees, arriving in 2014 as Country Manager and head of Xiaomi's India operations. He ascended through the ranks of the corporation, holding many leadership positions before being named Global VP in 2017.
He announced his departure in a tweet after nine years with the company, saying he is departing at a good moment for the company's leadership teams around the world.
He also talked about some of Xiaomi's proudest accomplishments, such as when the business became the #1 smartphone brand in India without spending any advertising money. He also recalled Ratan Tata's investment in the company, as well as the Modi government's Make in India initiative, which resulted in Xiaomi manufacturing 100% of its smartphones and TVs in India and creating 50,000 jobs in the country by extending the company's scale of operations.
Jain has also been on the boards of several businesses, including KrazyBee, Hungama, ZestMoney, and WorkIndia. He was the Co-Founder and Managing Director of online shopping portal Jabong before joining Xiaomi.
