Flipkart Minutes expands into gourmet groceries and launches private label Pykd as quick commerce competition intensifies.

Flipkart Minutes Expands Into Gourmet Grocery, Launches Private Label Pykd

Flipkart is expanding its quick commerce platform Minutes into the premium grocery segment with a dedicated gourmet range, as competition intensifies among quick commerce players to capture higher-value consumer spending.

According to reports, the new assortment on Minutes includes products such as cheese, coffee, wood-pressed oils and ghee, ramen and noodles, chocolates, kombucha and boba. The platform also plans to add more premium brands to strengthen its gourmet selection.

The move places Flipkart alongside rivals that are also expanding into specialised premium grocery offerings. Blinkit has already introduced its Gourmet range, while Zepto is preparing Select, a premium grocery service expected to feature imported and gourmet products.

The segment has also gained attention with the emergence of Bengaluru-based FirstClub, founded by former Flipkart senior vice president Ayyappan R.

Flipkart Expands Private Labels

Alongside its gourmet assortment, Flipkart is introducing Pykd, a private label that will initially offer products such as namkeen and chips.

The move gives Minutes an in-house product portfolio alongside offerings from external brands. Private labels can allow platforms to exercise greater control over pricing, sourcing and margins, while also developing products tailored to their customer base.

Flipkart's strategy mirrors moves by other quick commerce companies, including Swiggy Instamart, which has expanded its Noice private label across food and beverage categories.

Premium Push in Quick Commerce

The expansion into gourmet grocery comes as quick commerce platforms look to increase spending from existing customers and improve the value of individual orders.

Products such as speciality coffee, imported cheese, premium chocolates and wood-pressed oils typically command higher prices than everyday grocery staples. By adding such products, Minutes can potentially encourage customers to spend more per basket while broadening the range of occasions for which they use the platform.

The premium assortment also allows Flipkart Minutes to move beyond its traditional convenience proposition and tap into growing consumer interest in products differentiated by quality, speciality and provenance.

With gourmet products and its own private label, Flipkart is seeking to strengthen Minutes' position in an increasingly competitive quick commerce market, where platforms are expanding their assortments and looking for new avenues to drive customer engagement and higher-value purchases.
