Decathlon Joins Blinkit's 10-Minute Delivery App to Expand Reach
Decathlon teams up with Blinkit to offer 10-minute delivery for sports goods across India, tapping into the growing trend of quick commerce.
In an exciting move for the quick commerce (QC) industry, French sports retailer Decathlon has partnered with Blinkit, the rapid delivery platform backed by Zomato. This collaboration allows customers to receive Decathlon's sports and fitness products in just 10 minutes. The news, shared by Blinkit's CEO Albinder Dhindsa on social media, highlighted the wide range of items now available for ultra-fast delivery, from gym equipment to winter essentials, travel bags, and even apparel for both men and women. This partnership marks a major milestone in Blinkit’s expansion, tapping into a growing demand for convenience and speed in shopping.
For the first time, Decathlon products will be available in cities across India, including not just major metros but also smaller towns like Bareilly, Roorkee, and Bhopal. This makes it even easier for customers in these cities to access the latest sports gear and fitness products with unmatched convenience.
In his social media post, Dhindsa emphasized how Blinkit’s delivery speed aligns perfectly with Decathlon's mission to make sporting goods easily accessible. He wrote, “Customers can now get sports and gym equipment, yoga essentials, winter gear, and more—all delivered in 10 minutes!” This statement reflects the rapidly expanding quick commerce market in India, a trend that has seen a massive uptick in the past few years.
The quick commerce market in India is growing at an exceptional pace, driven by urban consumers’ increasing desire for speedy deliveries. According to reports, the market grew by 77% in 2023, reaching a total gross merchandise value (GMV) of $2.8 billion. With an expected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 40-45% over the next few years, this sector is predicted to outpace traditional retail, which is expected to grow by just 5-10%.
Currently, the Indian quick commerce market is largely dominated by three players—Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto—which together control 94% of the market share. Blinkit leads the pack with 46% of the market share, followed by Instamart at 27% and Zepto with 21%. The race for leadership in this fast-growing sector has intensified, with many brands, such as Fabindia, Boat, Hamleys, and US Polo, already partnering with quick commerce platforms to meet the rising demand for rapid deliveries.
This partnership between Blinkit and Decathlon is just one example of the increasing number of big brands making their products available on quick commerce platforms. With more players joining this space, the future of retail in India looks set to be faster and more accessible than ever.
The quick commerce trend is not just a passing phase but a fundamental shift in the way consumers shop, driven by their desire for instant gratification and convenience. As more brands like Decathlon embrace the trend, Blinkit and its competitors are poised to continue expanding their services, reshaping the retail landscape for years to come.
