adidas India took its FIFA World Cup 2026 celebrations to Mizoram, joining hands with Mizoram Football Association to host a football and cultural showcase at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl, one of the highest football venues in India.

An event celebrating Mizoram’s rich football culture with a mix of football, music and traditional performances, to celebrate the build-up to the FIFA World Cup 2026, for which adidas is an official partner.

The evening started with a live show of singer Mendal and was followed by Mizoram’s traditional Cheraw bamboo dance. Sporting festivities were inaugurated by Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma before two exhibition matches took centre stage.

Football Festivities:

The initial match saw local personalities such as musicians, artists, YouTubers, and fashion creators, while the second match was played with top Indian footballers, elite athletes using TRIONDA, the official match ball of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The celebrations ended with a performance from Lilac and a presentation of prizes.

adidas also released a short film to mark the occasion, highlighting the role of football in the everyday lives of the people of Mizoram and the state’s passion for the sport ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

The initiative is part of adidas India’s bigger FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign which also includes digital activations on FIFA’s official channels, a Spotify Megahit Mix integration, outdoor advertising and immersive football experiences across the country.

The brand also launched the adidas Creators League and retail activations around football featuring gaming zones, interactive installations and product experiences to engage football fans.

Grassroots Football:

Commenting on the initiative, Bhawna Sikka, Senior Director- Brand, adidas India said, “Mizoram is one of the most passionate football communities in India.

The initiative was created to celebrate a region where football is woven into the fabric of everyday life and to create experiences that connect fans to local culture and the global game, she said.

Lalreng Puia, Honorary Secretary of the Mizoram Football Association, said the collaboration highlights the state's football ecosystem and could encourage greater investment in grassroots football while inspiring young players to pursue the sport.
