YouTube Launches AI Tool to Help Users Recover Hacked Accounts
YouTube Introduces AI Tool for Account Recovery, Expanding Gradually to All Creators
YouTube has unveiled a new AI-powered tool designed to assist users in recovering accounts compromised by hackers. This "troubleshooting tool" is available on Google's support page and can be accessed through the YouTube Help Center. The tool guides account owners through a series of questions, helping them secure their hacked Google login and reverse any unauthorized changes made to their accounts.
Currently, the support assistant is available in English and is limited to a select group of creators. However, Google has announced plans to gradually expand this feature to all YouTube creators, ensuring broader access to account recovery support.
The Verge conducted a test of the bot, noting that while it includes a reasonable number of security measures, it does not fully bridge the gap between smaller account owners on YouTube and the platform’s support team. Presently, only large creators on YouTube can directly communicate with a representative, while smaller accounts must navigate help pages to resolve issues.
The introduction of this AI tool follows several incidents where YouTube accounts, including those of prominent creators like Linus Tech Tips, were hacked. Unfortunately, smaller partnered accounts often face longer recovery times when their accounts are compromised.
