KitKat Reportedly Enters Beauty Category With Chocolate-Scented Nail Polish Collaboration
KitKat is reportedly partnering with Brazil's Risqué on a limited-edition collection of chocolate-scented nail polishes, extending the confectionery brand into the beauty category.
KitKat, from Nestlé, is reportedly moving out from behind the candy counter with an unlikely collaboration with Brazilian nail care brand Risqué on a limited edition collection of chocolate-scented nail polishes inspired by the iconic wafer brand.
According to reports, the collaboration will include six nail polish shades based on KitKat’s signature colours, flavours and packaging. Along with the chocolate inspired colours, each polish is also expected to feature a chocolate scented fragrance, adding a sensory element to the collection.
The range is said to include creamy, metallic and special-effect finishes, with colours including chocolate brown, red, gold and green. The products will reportedly be sold under fun names such as Choco Cósmico, Crocante na Medida, Só Mais Um Pedacinho, KitKat Mania, Meu Wafervorito and Eu Mereço Esse Glow.

Beauty Crossover:
The collab is part of a larger trend of food and beauty brands teaming up to create limited-edition offerings that fuse recognisable consumer brands with beauty experiences that are made for impulse purchases and social media.
Risqué is also riding the wave of gourmand-inspired beauty products, where scents and textures linked to desserts have become increasingly common across cosmetics and personal care, with the addition of chocolate fragrance to the collection.
The collection has also been designed for social media discovery. The distinct idea and visual identity of the brand are likely to encourage user-generated content and online conversations, and facilitate easy sharing of the products on digital media.

Neither KitKat nor Risqué has announced any details about the products yet but the items have begun to appear on social media and industry channels in Brazil, suggesting that the collection may already be entering retail distribution ahead of an official launch.
For KitKat, the collaboration is a way to bring the brand to a new type of consumer while keeping its recognisable look. For Risqué the collaboration delivers a culturally recognisable beauty collection that combines fragrance, colour and brand nostalgia for a differentiated product experience.
