JioCinema will broadcast the inaugural Global Chess League

The Global Chess League, a collaboration between Tech Mahindra and FIDE, announced JioCinema as its OTT partner for the inaugural edition today. All league matches held in Dubai will be televised LIVE on the platform.

 

The league will be aired free to all viewers as part of JioCinema's commitment to helping the Global Chess League reach a bigger audience, according to the platform.

 

Hursh Shrivastava, Head of Strategy, Partnerships & Acquisitions, Viacom18 - Sports, stated of the partnership, "We are excited to be a part of the chess revolution that the Global Chess League will bring about." We will give a one-of-a-kind experience for chess aficionados through JioCinema while also assisting the sport in growing its fan base. The annual league will use a unique mixed-team format in which each of the six franchises will play a total of 10 matches in a double round-robin style, with the victor of each match determined by a best-of-six board scoring system played concurrently. On July 2nd, 2023, the top two teams will battle for the Global Chess League Championship title.
