According to a recent report by Atlas VPN, Google Chrome has overtaken all other browsers in terms of vulnerability, with 303 vulnerabilities and a total of 3,159 vulnerabilities as of 2022. These numbers, according to the analysis by Atlas VPN, are based on data from the VulDB vulnerability database, which covers the period from January 1, 2022 to October 5, 2022.

According to the research, only Google Chrome has reported new vulnerabilities in the first five days of October. CVE-202203318, CVE-2022-3314, CVE-2022-3311, CVE-2022-3309, and CVE-2022-3307 are recent ones. The CVE programme analyzes security flaws and vulnerabilities on various platforms. These defects' specifics are not listed in the database, but the report said they might cause memory corruption on a computer.

By updating to Google Chrome version 106.0.5249.61, users can address these. According to reports, Mozilla's Firefox browser has 117 vulnerabilities, ranking it in second place overall. As of October 5, Microsoft Edge was said to have 103 vulnerabilities, which is 61% higher than the entire year 2021. Since its release, it has had 806 vulnerabilities in total.

When compared to other browsers, Safari has some of the lowest levels of vulnerabilities. Notably, there have only been 344 vulnerabilities reported for the Opera browser so far in 2022.

In May 2022, Safari had more than a billion users, and Apple has been working hard to make sure that their browser is safe to use. According to the research, Safari has some of the fewest security vulnerabilities. It has 26 vulnerabilities, for instance, in the first three quarters of 2022, and 1,139 overall since its launch.

Note that the national cybersecurity agency CERT-In had already issued a high severity warning for Google Chrome users. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team stated in its most recent report that several vulnerabilities were present in several desktop versions of Google Chrome. A remote attacker could take use of these vulnerabilities to bypass around security protocols, run arbitrary code, or disrupt service on the targeted system.
