Delhi Orders Citywide Fire Safety Audit After Restaurant Blaze Incident
Delhi Government Launches Fire Safety Audit Following Rajouri Garden Restaurant Fire
The Delhi government has launched a citywide fire safety audit following a fire incident at a restaurant in Rajouri Garden, which forced students from a nearby coaching institute to escape by jumping to an adjacent building.
Non-Compliance with Fire Safety Norms
Delhi Chief Minister revealed that the restaurant’s Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) had already been canceled prior to the incident due to non-compliance with fire safety regulations, particularly the requirement for two exit points in every restaurant.
Addressing the issue, the Chief Minister stated:
“Whoever is found guilty in this incident will face the strictest action. I have also directed the Delhi Fire Services to conduct a fire safety audit across the city. Any restaurant found violating safety norms will face immediate action.”
Focus on Safety in High-Density Areas
The government’s directive underscores the importance of enforcing fire safety regulations, especially in high-density commercial areas. The audit aims to assess existing safety measures, enforce compliance, and prevent similar tragediesin the future.
