WhatsApp faced Midnight Disruptions impacting message Sending and Receiving
Late Wednesday, Meta-owned WhatsApp encountered major disruptions, impeding message sending and receiving for numerous users
Meta-owned WhatsApp experienced a significant disruption around 11:55 pm on Wednesday, affecting message sending and receiving for numerous users. The cause of the midnight problem remained unclear.
Downdetector, a platform monitoring website and app issues, received over 80,000 reports on WhatsApp outages in a brief period. WhatsApp acknowledged the problem on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "We know some people are experiencing issues right now; we're working on getting things back to 100% for everyone as quickly as possible."
Users turned to social media platforms like X to report the problem, with humorous reactions flooding Twitter. Despite the inconvenience, services returned to normal after a few hours, with WhatsApp announcing, "And we’re back. Happy chatting!"
This outage follows a recent incident where Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Threads users faced account lockouts. Notably, WhatsApp was unaffected by that disruption. The messaging app's most recent significant outage occurred in 2022, lasting for two hours.
