Viral gaming app ad featuring Anant Ambani's deepfake sparks frenzy
The gaming app Aviator's ads, featuring deepfakes of Neeta Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Yogi Adityanath, have stirred significant controversy and attention
Dubious advertisements showcasing deepfakes of Anant Ambani, Neeta Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Yogi Adityanath have captured widespread attention online, promoting the gaming app "Aviator." These convincingly crafted videos have successfully misled netizens into believing they are genuine endorsements.
Originally released weeks ago, these videos recently gained significant traction across the internet. Anant Ambani appears in one, discussing strategies to win substantial cash prizes on the app and pledging to double players' winnings. He also assures viewers of a refund twice the amount they lose during gameplay.
In another instance, a deepfake of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is seen claiming substantial earnings through the app.
These manipulated videos have been sourced from authentic television interviews and skillfully altered to resemble promotional advertisements for the Aviator app.
India has witnessed a rise in deepfake videos featuring celebrities endorsing questionable products, particularly gaming applications. Previously, cricket icons Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli were also unwitting subjects of deepfake advertisements.
During election seasons, similar manipulated videos circulated widely, featuring top politicians such as Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi, and Arvind Kejriwal, highlighting the growing concern over the misuse of deepfake technology for deceptive purposes.
