Meta announced Thursday that it’s rolling out a new batch of features for its Edits video editing app, including auto-generated bilingual captions, improved template tools and seasonal sound effects to help creators make more engaging short-form content.

The latest update is aimed at making it easier to create content for multilingual audiences and at the same time opening up new creative options for users.

One of the big additions is auto-generated bilingual captions, supporting 15 languages. The feature allows creators to show captions in two languages at the same time, so they can reach viewers in different regions without having to make separate versions of the same video.

Feature Expansion:

The rollout is part of Meta's wider effort to foster multilingual content across its platforms. Integrated closely with the Edits app, Instagram has been rolling out translated content recommendations to help creators tap into international audiences.

Meta has also added a new library of seasonal sound effects, giving creators more options for audio in videos built around seasonal events and trends.

The update also streamlines template creation, enabling creators to create reusable templates with overlay support and a new clip-locking feature. When other users reuse a template, locked clips stay locked, so creators can lock important visuals in place while others can customise the rest of the content.

The new features arrive as Meta has been quick to roll out the Edits app since its launch. As the creator economy heats up, the company is gradually rolling out AI-powered and collaborative features to make Edits a one-stop shop for short-form video creation.
