JioHotstar has released the teaser of Hotstar Specials’ ‘Land of Football’, a documentary that delves into the deep-rooted football culture, passion and legacy of Kerala. The title will start streaming on the platform from July 10, in association with Kerala Tourism.
The documentary explores how football has transcended its role as a sport in Kerala and has become an integral aspect of the state’s identity and daily life.

A Tribute to Kerala's Football Legacy:
Land of Football captures the passion of football fans in Kerala, and remembers the global stage they stood on during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
On the eve of the tournament, thousands of Malayali fans in jerseys of different national teams flooded the streets of Doha, a reflection of the state’s long-standing love for the game.
The documentary also talks about some international media labelling these supporters as “Fake Fans” and argues that their presence was a real celebration of football and Kerala’s long history of football culture.

Production Team:
Directed by Haseef Hakeem and produced by Waseem Haider and Anamay Prakash, the documentary is a compilation of stories from the community, produced under the banner of Brown Crew Productions.
The screenplay and dialogues are by Jushna Shaheen, while Nanda Kishore and Darshan have taken care of the cinematography. The editor is Tamjee Taha and the music is by Jai Unnithan.
Land Of Football will debut on the Hotstar Specials slate and will stream exclusively on JioHotstar from July 10.
