FSSAI Issues Notices to Nestlé, KFC and Flipkart Over Consumer Complaints
FSSAI has issued notices to Nestlé India, KFC and Flipkart following consumer complaints related to alleged contamination and hygiene issues, seeking detailed compliance and quality control reports.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued regulatory notices to several major companies, including Nestlé India, KFC and Flipkart, following consumer complaints related to alleged product contamination and hygiene concerns, according to reports.
The action comes as the food safety regulator increasingly monitors social media platforms and digital channels to identify potential public health concerns and initiate investigations.

Nestlé Asked to Submit Detailed Report
One of the notices relates to allegations that insects or larvae were found in a packet of Maggi instant noodles.
According to the report, FSSAI has asked Nestlé India to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) detailing batch-level quality control records, supplier verification processes and corrective measures undertaken in response to the complaint.
The regulator has also sought information on steps taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Nestlé India recently rejected allegations of contamination, stating that independent laboratory testing found no evidence of infestation and that the company remained compliant with food safety standards.
Flipkart, Open Secret Face Scrutiny
In a separate case, FSSAI has issued notices to Flipkart and packaged food brand Open Secret following a complaint alleging that a packet of dates ordered through Flipkart's quick-commerce platform contained insects.
The regulator has reportedly sought internal quality assurance records, inventory tracking information and details of measures taken to identify and remove any potentially affected stock from circulation.

KFC Outlet Served Notice
A KFC outlet in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, has also come under scrutiny over allegations of unhygienic conditions.
According to the report, FSSAI has requested documentation related to kitchen sanitation, food handling procedures, cold storage management, pest control measures, waste disposal systems and employee hygiene practices.
The regulator is seeking to determine whether operational protocols meet prescribed food safety requirements.
