Zee Entertainment Enterprises has appointed Shipra Wahi as Chief Sales Officer for Zee5 as the company increases its emphasis on digital monetisation and advertising-led growth.

Based in Noida, Wahi will head the strategic revenue initiatives of Zee5 for sales, operations and monetisation and report to Sandeep Mehrotra.

According to a report by the StoryBoard18 he move comes as Zee Entertainment is increasing efforts to build its digital advertising ecosystem amid intensifying competition in the streaming and digital media market.

Digital Ad Expansion:

Zee5 said it is working on a more integrated and future-ready advertising framework to cater to the changing demands of advertisers and growing convergence of platforms.

Commenting on the appointment, Mehrotra said: “The digital advertising ecosystem is increasingly moving to integrated and data-driven monetisation models.

His experience in developing revenue and strategic partnership models will help the platform unlock new business opportunities and deepen advertiser engagement, he said.

Wahi said Zee5 has already laid a strong foundation for growth and her focus will be on creating impactful advertising ecosystems and bringing in innovative monetisation approaches for long-term sustainable growth.

She has over 20 years of experience in the financial services, ecommerce, consulting and consumer technology industries across India and the Middle East.

Creator Economy Focus:

Wahi has worked with companies including Meta, Amazon, Citibank and Kearney throughout her career.

Prior to Zee5, she has worked with Meta where she worked on scaling creator partnerships and ecosystem development in the creator economy space.

Zee Entertainment added it has also implemented a unified advertising revenue structure under Mehrotra as part of its broader efforts to maximise monetisation opportunities across its platforms.

The company said that continued investments in content, technology and user experience are core to Zee5’s expansion strategy as it aims for more advertiser engagement and audience growth.

The hire underscores the way streaming platforms are beefing up leadership in digital advertising, creator partnerships and monetization strategy amid growing competition for subscription and ad revenues.
