redBus Launches ‘Freedom Bottle’ Campaign on Women’s Hydration During Bus Journeys

redBus has launched ‘Freedom Bottle’, an Independence Day campaign that highlights the everyday struggles that women face in terms of hydration and availability of restrooms on long bus journeys.

This is the first activation for redBus’ ‘Travel Equal’ campaign that seeks to address the everyday inequalities faced by women while travelling. It is a combination of a documentary style digital film and on-ground activation.

Addressing Hydration Concerns:

The campaign hinges on the notion that women’s decisions to drink water on long journeys may be influenced by the uncertainty of whether a loo will be available.

In ‘Freedom Bottle’, redBus throws light on the need for easy access to restrooms for women travelling by bus and highlights buses with in-built toilets as one of the options available for passengers, who look for greater convenience during extended journeys.

The redBus India Bus Track 2026 Report states that more than 50 million women are intercity bus travellers, which makes up 34% of the audience that the campaign is looking to target.

The campaign also cites research published in the National Library of Medicine that identified habitual delayed urination as a behavioural risk factor associated with urinary tract infections.

Travel Features for Women:

‘Booking for Women’ mode on the redBus platform helps users to filter buses with in-built toilets while booking their journeys, the company said.

The feature is designed to help women know which buses have restrooms before they travel, giving them more visibility into available facilities when planning long distance travel.

With ‘Freedom Bottle’, redBus is using the Independence Day platform to broaden the conversation around freedom in travel, linking it to practical issues such as hydration, restroom access and comfort for women on long-distance journeys.
